A Food-First Approach to Gut & Brain Health
How I Work
My work is food-first, but never food-only.
I focus on real, nourishing meals that support digestion, blood sugar, and nervous system regulation without perfection, restriction, or extreme protocols.
What I teach is designed to be:
Gluten-free and mostly dairy-free
Low-oxalate aware without obsession
Sensory-friendly and repeatable
Supportive of neurodivergent nervous systems
Flexible enough to meet families where they are
There are no moral labels on food here.
No calorie counting.
No rigid rules to “get right.”
Just practical guidance that helps the body calm down so healing can happen.
Who This Work Is For
I work with:
Families raising neurodivergent children
Individuals navigating gut and brain overload
Parents who feel stuck in food battles and don’t know where to start
Families seeking support after vaccine injury
Anyone who wants food to feel supportive instead of stressful
If food feels complicated, emotional, or overwhelming, you’re not alone, and you’re in the right place.
I’m Jane Casey, a nutrition educator focused on food that supports gut and brain health, especially for neurodivergent individuals and sensitive nervous systems.
I didn’t come to this work because it was trendy or impressive. I came to it because my family needed food that actually helped.
Like many parents, I was once told that digestion, behavior, mood, focus, sleep, and sensory challenges were all separate issues. I learned the hard way that they are not. The gut and the brain speak the same language, and when one is overwhelmed, the other is too.
Over time, I saw how food could either add stress to the nervous system or help calm it. That realization changed everything.
The Role of the Nervous System
Many people try to change food before addressing stress, sensory overload, or nervous system dysregulation. For neurodivergent individuals especially, that order matters.
When the nervous system is overwhelmed, digestion struggles. Appetite narrows. New foods feel unsafe. What looks like “picky eating” is often the body protecting itself.
That’s why I emphasize nervous-system support as part of the process, including the thoughtful use of essential oils as sensory support. These tools are not used as treatment or replacements for nourishment, but as a way to create calm and reduce internal stress so food changes can land more gently.
Calm comes before trying.
Safety comes before food.

About Gut Over It and Jane Casey’s Kitchen
Gut Over It and Jane Casey’s Kitchen Cookbook were created to give families a calmer starting point.
This is not a medical textbook.
It’s not a strict diet plan.
And it’s not about fixing anyone.
It’s about reducing stress on the gut–brain connection and building nourishment in a way that feels doable, supportive, and sustainable.
This is the book I wish I’d had years ago, when everything felt overwhelming and I needed food to help, not add another layer of stress.
